For over five decades, every first full weekend in June, the Lenoir City Arts and Crafts Festival provides an opportunity for regional artists and craftspeople to exhibit and sell their creations in the pleasant, relaxed atmosphere of the peninsula of the Lenoir City Park, surrounded by the sparkling waters of Ft. Loudoun Lake.
Spanning over 55 years, the festival began as a clothesline art show in 1962 and has grown to be a two-day affair with over 200 artists and craftsmen. Planned for the first full weekend in June each year, it attracts thousands of visitors who come to admire and to buy. Many of the vendors return year after year and have repeat customers; yet, each year, first time vendors excite shoppers with their innovative creations. Numerous festival visitors have commented on the “extraordinary quality and variety of merchandise” available.
